Marvin Sapp Says God Is Not Finished With Him Yet
Gospel singer Marvin Sapp discusses his new single, «He's Not Finished,» his 17th album, «Restoration,» a new partnership with Roc Nation, and his recent marriage after 16 years of waiting.
Gospel singer Marvin Sapp has spent more than three decades using music to remind listeners that their circumstances do not get the final word. Now, the award-winning artist is delivering that message again with his latest single, «He's Not Finished,» and an upcoming album titled «Restoration.»
Sapp recently joined Erica Campbell on «Get Up Mornings» to discuss the inspiration behind the song and the project, which marks his 17th solo album and ninth live recording. Despite the milestone, Sapp said he still feels there is more work for him to do.
The message behind «He's Not Finished» is aimed at anyone who has ever felt counted out. «The reality is, is that all of us can feel like we've been written off because of the critiques and the critics that are consistently coming against us,» Sapp explained. «But the truth of the matter is that God still has something for us to do because he's not finished.»
Sapp said that message feels especially important right now, with social media giving people endless opportunities to criticize, judge and write others off. «Even though, uh, people may have counted you out, the truth of the matter is they can't count because God's not concluded with your life,» he said.
That idea also connects directly to the theme of «Restoration.» Sapp believes people need to rethink how quickly society moves to cancel someone after they make a mistake. «We live in a cancel culture,» he said.
Sapp pointed to Galatians 6:1, which calls on believers to restore someone who has fallen rather than simply condemn them. He believes that message has become increasingly important. «We're monetizing, for the sake of a better word, somebody's fall, and that's not what's supposed to happen,» Sapp said.
While «Restoration» continues his musical legacy, Sapp is also starting a new chapter through a partnership with Roc Nation. He revealed that the company actually reached out to him while he was considering releasing the project independently. The partnership stood out because Sapp said it allows him to maintain control over his music and continue sharing his faith on his own terms.
For Sapp, the opportunity is another reminder that his story is still unfolding. «I've been doing this for 36 years,» he said. «And God keeps saying with clarity, I still have a message for you to share.»
Beyond music, Sapp also celebrated another major personal milestone during the conversation. After waiting 16 years, he recently married Dr. Lisa Sapp. His advice to anyone still waiting for their own love story was simple: «The rest of your days will be the best of your days.»
With new music, a new partnership and a message centered on restoration, Sapp is making one thing clear: he believes there is still plenty left for him to do.
