Addressing the congregation, Odukoya said he had remained single since assuming leadership of the church after the death of his father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, in 2023, but had now decided to remarry. Pastor Taiwo Odukoya died on August 7, 2023, and his son succeeded him as senior pastor that same year. The announcement therefore marks a personal turning point for a pastor who has led the church since taking over from his father.
The marriage blessing was officiated by Pastor Tunde Bakare of The Citadel Global Community Church in the United States, who also gave the congregation details about the new bride. Bakare said Mo is the daughter of Reverend Theophilus and Bolaji Daniel, and that she would be known as Pastor Mo Odukoya. Her introduction in the church thus placed her publicly in the role of a pastor's wife in the Fountain of Life community, a position that carries its own expectations within a Christian congregation.
The announcement drew reactions on social media, where many users who had earlier guessed at the meaning of Odukoya's post now congratulated the couple. The earlier posting, which showed only two hands and rings, had prompted a range of online guesses before the pastor made his news known from the pulpit.
