Gospel music veteran Marvin Sapp is back with a new single and a message for anyone who has ever felt written off. The award-winning singer has released «He's Not Finished,» a song that affirms divine purpose even in the face of harsh criticism and public rejection.
Sapp discussed the inspiration behind the track during an appearance on «Get Up Mornings» with Erica Campbell. He explained that the song speaks to a universal experience. «The reality is, is that all of us can feel like we've been written off because of the critiques and the critics that are consistently coming against us,» Sapp said. «But the truth of the matter is that God still has something for us to do because he's not finished.»
The timing of the message feels urgent to Sapp, who pointed to social media as a space where people face relentless judgment. «Even though people may have counted you out, the truth of the matter is they can't count because God's not concluded with your life,» he said.
The single precedes Sapp's upcoming album, Restoration, which will be his 17th solo project and ninth live recording. The title reflects a theme Sapp believes society needs to revisit: how quickly people are canceled after a mistake. «We live in a cancel culture,» he said. Sapp cited Galatians 6:1, which calls on believers to restore those who have fallen rather than condemn them. «We're monetizing, for the sake of a better word, somebody's fall, and that's not what's supposed to happen,» he added.
Beyond music, Sapp is entering a new professional chapter through a partnership with Roc Nation. He revealed that the company approached him while he was considering releasing the project independently. The deal appealed to him because it allows him to retain control over his music and share his faith on his own terms. «I've been doing this for 36 years,» Sapp said. «And God keeps saying with clarity, I still have a message for you to share.»
During the conversation, Sapp also shared a personal milestone: after 16 years, he recently married Dr. Lisa Sapp. His advice to those still waiting for their own love story was simple: «The rest of your days will be the best of your days.»
