Podcaster confronts Ms. Rachel over Israel comments in park encounter
Avi Lichtschein confronted children's educator Ms. Rachel over her comments about Israel and Gaza, accusing her of spreading harmful rhetoric about the Jewish state.
Podcaster Avi Lichtschein confronted popular children's educator Ms. Rachel about her comments regarding Israel during an encounter at a neighborhood park, according to the Sunday episode of his show, «Depends on the Context.» Lichtschein described running into the YouTuber, whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso, while both were taking their children to the park.
During the interaction, Lichtschein asked Accurso why she held anti-Israel views. Accurso reportedly responded that she is not anti-Israel but rather opposed to the Israeli government and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Lichtschein pushed back on this distinction, arguing that Netanyahu is the democratically elected leader of a sovereign nation and that Accurso's positions go beyond mere opposition to a particular leader.
Lichtschein said Accurso also accused Israel of committing «genocide» in its war with Hamas. She reportedly cited the deaths of thousands of children and questioned how the situation could not be described as genocide. Lichtschein countered that genocide is a specific accusation with legal and historical weight, not simply a synonym for war, and expressed concern that such rhetoric endangers Jewish communities worldwide.
Accurso repeatedly noted that her husband's father is Jewish and that she supports the existence of a Jewish state. Lichtschein told her she was «spreading blood libel» and that there was «blood on your hands» for her ignorance before she ultimately walked away. He then spoke with Accurso's husband, apologizing for upsetting her but not retracting his remarks.
Lichtschein said he was not attempting to change Accurso's mind but rather to point out the damage caused by her words, given her enormous audience. He stated that someone with her platform has a responsibility to understand the consequences of the claims she amplifies. He acknowledged that her advocacy likely stems from genuine compassion for children but described her as «naïve and gullible» regarding the impact of her statements on the Jewish community.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Lichtschein recalled that Accurso described herself as a «Zionist» akin to former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander. He said the timing struck him as a vivid example of his point: one may personally consider oneself a Zionist and not intend to contribute to hostility, but a large platform requires serious thought about what happens downstream from amplified rhetoric.
Lichtschein added that he does not believe Accurso hates Jews and that her advocacy comes from a place of genuine compassion for children. However, he maintained that her words are harmful and that she does not realize what her actions are doing to the Jewish community at large. Fox News Digital reached out to Accurso for comment.
